10 Rules Of Training  by Patrick Jones

1. LEARNING - the purpose of training is learning, not just sharing information.

2. OBJECTIVES - define what three/four things you want people to learn.

3. LOOSEN UP - be businesslike, but relaxed to encourage interaction.

4. SIMPLIFY - use examples/visuals to demonstrate concepts, and discuss practical application of ideas.

5. FLEXIBILITY - write down all questions and either answer immediately or incorporate later. Training should be dialogue.

6. VARIETY - use many techniques other than lecture to get your point across.

7. PARTICIPATION - let people learn by doing, providing time for small group application of skills you are teaching.

8. REPETITION - underscore important points repeatedly using different methods.

9. BE POSITIVE - always look for a way to address concerns or answer questions in a positive way/identifying what's right

10. GET A RECEIPT - use both short term and long term evaluation to make sure what was taught was learned.
