"Books with Bite®" during Teen Read WeekTM 2008
Teen Read Week is an initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), which is the fastest-growing division of the American Library Association. 2008 marks the 11th anniversary of Teen Read Week!
Since 1998, Teen Read Week™ has encouraged teens to:
- Make time to read for the fun of it
- Use their local library to discover their interests
- Get reading materials and participate in events at their school or public library
The main theme for the Teen Read Week initiative is "Read For The Fun Of It," and a sub-theme that changes each year serves as a basis for developing programs in schools, public libraries, and bookstores. This year’s sub-theme is "Books with Bite @ your library®," promoting a variety of books—from vampire stories to cooking to technology (byte)—as a tool for getting young adults to read.
For 50 years YALSA has been the world leader in selecting reading, listening and viewing for teens.
