About the lecture
The Arthur Curley Memorial Lecture is held annually at ALA Midwinter Meetings and honors ALA past president Arthur Curley.
Arthur Curley served as president of the American Library Association in 1994-1995 and was director of the Boston Public Library. He was a champion of the arts and of the library’s role as a center that can transform the community. The lecture series commemorates his lifelong dedication to the principles of intellectual freedom and free public access to information. Mr. Curley was an ALA member for more than 30 years.
