Calling All Chapters!
Help celebrate National Library Week by entering the 2006 Quotable Facts contest. Your state could win 10,000 copies of its own Quotable Facts!
How to participate:
-
Come up with at least 10 Quotable Facts (see examples at right) and send them to ALA no later than Monday, February 13.
-
-
Up to three winners will be announced during National Library Week (April 2-8, 2006).
-
The best of the Quotable Facts will be posted on the @ your library Website.
-
States that already have developed Quotable Facts are welcome to send them as is or can use this contest as an opportunity to update them.
Prize details:
Up to three chapters will win the design and printing of 10,000 copies of their own Quotable Facts (printed in one color). The winners will be recognized at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans.
Guidelines:
A committee of ALA members will judge your Quotable Facts on a series of guidelines as follows:
-
They should be as local (state related) as possible.
-
They should be creative.
-
They should include a “value” component (see examples at right).
-
There should be a minimum of two public, two school and two academic examples. The rest are up to you.
-
Please include data sources and the organizations you worked with to collect the information in your state.
-
Include contact information including the name and title of person submitting on behalf of your Chapter, address, phone, fax and email.

Background:
In a recent Campaign member survey, ALA learned that libraries across the country are looking for research and statistics that can help them make the case about their value to their schools, campuses and communities. Both you and ALA can use the data to share with media and in advocacy activities.
