Membership in the American Library Association (ALA) is open to all librarians, library workers, friends of libraries, and library supporters; libraries and other non-profits; and corporations that serve the library community in the United States and abroad.

Members of ALA are eligible to join any of our specialty divisions, sections, and round tables. ALA divisions and round tables are communities organized around a particular area of interest in library service or library type. Divisions help set policy and practice for the entire library profession while round tables help encourage the extension and development of new or special interest areas.

ALA is also organized with Offices charged with promoting causes and actionable areas identified as integral to the mission and purpose of libraries. While Offices do not have membership attached to them, members of ALA are able to help plan and promote Office activities through committees.

You are invited to join ALA as a Personal, Organizational, or Corporate Member.
