PUBLISHING (standing, Council)
History: Established by Council as a Council Committee in 1974, which brought about Bylaw amendments ratified in the spring of 1975 so that the former Publishing Board and the former Editorial Committee were merged to form the Council Committee on Publishing. Charge revised by ALA Council in June, 1995. THE MEMBERSHIP SHALL CONSIST OF TEN MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEES FOR STAGGERED TERMS OF TWO YEARS. CHAIRPERSON APPOINTED ANNUALLY.
Charge: To set the framework within which ALA publishing operates. To recommend policies on publishing products and services, including the use of the ALA imprint, for the approval of Council; to advise and assist all committees and units of the Association in their publishing activities. To provide budgetary oversight and make recommendations to appropriate Association budget and planning committees.
