One way to help raise awareness is through library advocacy on the ILoveLibraries Take Action page, powered by Capwiz, where library advocates can take action on federal and state issues.
Capwiz•XC is Capitol Advantage's leading online legislation and advocacy tool that continues to help ALA, chapters, and Ilovelibraries send constituent messages to congressional and state legislators.
Take Action, through ALA's Issues and Advocacy pages, employs Capwiz.
Directly below are links to the legislation and advocacy pages of chapters, or to their home pages. Links to Chapters participating in Capwiz are in bold, and direct you to their Capwiz pages.

The Chapter Relations Office and the Office for Intellectual Freedom are tracking legislation regarding restrictions to Interactive Web Applications, also known as Social Networking. These are "mini-DOPA's" that are directed at libraries or will impact libraries.
Please let ALA know if legislation like this is being introduced in your state.
Often called TEL (Tax Expenditure Limitation), TABOR (Taxpayer Bill of Rights), or SOS (Stop Over Spending), these measures are constitutional amendments that restrict spending growth to a formula based on population change plus inflation, and require voter approval to spend above the limit.
Please keep the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom informed with information affecting intellectual freedom in the states. Send your information to OIF as soon as possible.
