Topic: Managing Identifiers

We have all used identifiers in our work but few of us are aware of how they are managed and maintained. At this meeting we will look at the business model behind identifiers and their services, and at the organizational and technical infrastructure that is needed for identifier systems. Our speakers are responsible for the maintenance of the ISSN, the ISBN, and for the CrossRef linking service for DOIs. Each of these provides essential infrastructure for publishers and libraries.

This program was organized by the National Information Standards Organization (NISO), sponsored by LITA Standards Interest Group. The topic will be introduced by the NISO Interim Executive Director, Pat Stevens.
