CURRENT_ACTIVITIES:

The main focus of business on June 30, 2008, was deciding on how we planned to handle election of positions and offices within BIGWIG for the upcoming year.

However, we started with introductions of new members and attendees.

We then introduced current officers, including the current (and past year) co-chair Jason Griffey, incoming co-chair Jonathan Blackburn, and volunteer coordinator Tiffany Smith.

The Social Software Showcase (held the day before) was also discussed, including the need for more seating and better connectivity next year. (We exceed the room space by at least 75, and we were in sore need of laptop connections for our presenters, much less the attendees.) Otherwise, it was a huge success, and we talked briefly about what we might have in store for next year.

We also discussed what might take place over the next year to take advantage of the "attention" BIGWIG seemed to be getting, as a result of the Social Software Showcase, and how we might best leverage it to promote participation in both BIGWIG and LITA, as a whole.

Lastly, we talked about how we wanted to organize our BIGWIG officers for the upcoming year and elect them.

A few things were decided:

• We wanted to conduct the nomination and voting of officers online to involve virtual participants.
• We wanted to create 2 new positions:
  • A "BIGWIG Evangelist" who would take over the job of the Volunteer Coordinator for the LITA Blog, as well as taking on responsibilities for further marketing BIGWIG events and projects.
  • A "Technical Guru" for the new http://yourbigwig.com site - hopefully, someone with Drupal experience.

The meeting was closed after about 45 minutes, with the group agreeing to convene online at a later date for any other issues.

• Further promotion of BIGWIG events and activities, including the LITA Blog, http://yourbigwig.com and next year's Social Software Showcase
• Planning and organization of next year's Social Software Showcase
