LITA/OCLC and LITA/LSSI Minority Scholarship Committee

The Committee selects the recipients of the LITA/OCLC and the LITA/LSSI Minority Scholarships in Library and Information Technology. Each goes to a student who is beginning or continuing a master's level ALA-accredited program in library and information sciences. Recipient must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen and a qualified member of a principal minority group (American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American, or Hispanic) with a strong commitment to the use of automation/technology in libraries, to enter the library automation/technology field and follow a career in that field. Additional information about these scholarships can be found at LITA Scholarships & Awards.

The Committee completes it work electronically. No face-to-face meetings are necessary. The committee receives copies of completed applications in the spring and selects the winners after conferring via e-mail.

Appointment is for one year with no reappointment the following year, except that one member may be appointed chair for the following year and the immediate past Chair serves as an advisor.
