What is LITA?

The Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) is the division of the American Library Association that provides its members and the library and information science community as a whole with a forum for discussion, an environment for learning, and a program for actions on the design, development, and implementation of automated and technological systems in the library and information science field.

Who should belong?

LITA's members come from all types of libraries and institutions focusing on information technology in libraries. They include library decision-makers, practitioners, information professionals and vendors who value the benefits listed below.

Membership Categories

  • First-time personal membership -- LITA and ALA for $125 ($60 for LITA and rate of $65 for ALA)
  • First-time LITA personal membership -- add LITA to your ALA membership for $60
  • Rejoin LITA (former LITA personal member) -- $60
  • Renewal of joint personal membership -- $158 for second year; $190 for third and later years ($60 for LITA and $98/$130 for ALA)
  • Non-salaried (unemployed or earning less than $25K per year) -- LITA and ALA for $76 ($30 for LITA and $46 for ALA) To get the non-salaried rate, call  1-800-545-2433 (press option 5) OR complete and return this coupon
  • Student personal membership -- ALA and LITA for $58 ($25 for LITA and $33 for ALA)
  • Organizational membership -- $90 Includes copy of ITAL. Does not include personal membership benefits for organization's staff.
