The Section Board consists of the members of the Executive Committee and the chairs of standing and ad-hoc committees. In addition to conducting the Section business at the annual and midwinter meetings, the Executive Committee also has the responsibility for decisions regarding the Section during the periods of time between meetings. The duties and obligations of these officers and committees are explained in detail in the About Us section.

AWARDS COMMITTEE

To recognize outstanding instructional programming and leadership among our colleagues by choosing the recipients of  awards sponsored by CJCLS.   The committee will proactively research possible nominees for these awards and solicit nominations widely from membership, and convey their decisions to the Executive Committee. The committee will periodically review the selection criteria for honorees; coordinate publicity related to individual awards and award recipients according to ALA/ACRL award procedures; update information about award winners on the Section web site; and update the internal documents that guide the committee. The Committee also coordinates  CJCLS awards events at the annual conference.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM PLANNING COMMITTEE

To identify appropriate topics for conference programs and plan program activities, locations, and participants for the ALA Annual Conference. To coordinate program sponsorship with other ALA units as appropriate.   The Committee may also coordinate timely topical discussions of interest to community and junior college librarians for annual conference and/or midwinter meetings.

LIBRARY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT EDUCATION COMMITTEE

To explore, collect and disseminate information on Library Technical Assistant Training Programs; to provide channels of communications for sharing information on these programs; to explore establishing liaisons with Library Technical Assistant organizations; to investigate developing guidelines and standards for Library Technical Assistant Programs; to encourage publication of textbooks and other training materials. Committee Resources available.

MEMBERSHIP/COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

To develop and coordinate publication activities of the section and its committees and to advise the section Executive Committee on publications projects.  Membership on this committee includes the Section’s Webmaster and Newsletter Editor.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

To nominate candidates for elective positions. The Committee is comprised of three Section members appointed by the incoming Chair of CJCLS who selects the Chair of the Committee. The Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect may not serve on this committee. The Nominating Committee Chair may represent CJCLS on the ACRL Appointments and Nominations Committee if recommended by the Section Chair and appointed by the ACRL President.

The Past-Chair of the Section and the Handbook Editor customarily serve as members of this Committee. The Committee will include a balance between persons who have had experience and involvement in Section activities and those who have potential for involvement in the future.

RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE
