DESCRIPTION:The Syracuse University Library is searching for a Temporary Project Manager. This is a two year, benefits eligible appointment.
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning logistics for the various major capital projects within the Syracuse University Library.
The Project Manager prepares all relevant documentation relating to the assigned project and undertakes all detailed planning, including implementation planning, of the project.
The Project Manager provides a key support role and ensures that the project is well managed and implemented effectively within the library and university environments. This will be accomplished by managing the project budget, coordinating resources, monitoring project progress, coordinating multiple deadlines, and by adopting a consultative approach to identifying and achieving objectives and solving problems.

Information Architect and Online Publishing Developer, EdLab at Teachers College Columbia University New York, NY
DESCRIPTION: The EdLab at the Gottesman Libraries of Teachers College, Columbia University seeks an innovative professional to provide leadership to create and enhance our web-based publishing resources and services. Responsibilities: Working with minimal supervision, and skilled in communicating with colleagues who may have varying degrees of subject knowledge, the Information Architect will collaborate with members of the EdLab to develop online publishing resources and services. Apply principles of information architecture and usability to develop effective site interfaces and navigation structures. Advance strategies to incorporate the latest developments in online publishing—both text and video—into our current publishing projects. Reports to the Associate Director of the Gottesman Libraries for Publishing and Design.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of and/or experience in information architecture, user experience design, and search. Strong service orientation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students. Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment and on a variety of simultaneous projects.
DESIRED: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or a related field. Interest in learning about new methods of disseminating information and current issues and trends in online publishing, working knowledge of contemporary programming languages, knowledge of both proprietary and open-source publishing platforms. ENVIRONMENT: EdLab is a research, design, and development unit within the Gottesman Libraries at Teachers College, Columbia University. Director of Library Services, Ocean County College Toms River, NJ
DESCRIPTION: The Director of Library Services shall be responsible to the Executive Director of e-Learning for the management and supervision of the Library. Responsibilities shall include planning, development, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all library services and staff. Management/Administrative Operations: Administer and coordinate all library services. Develop and maintain consistent service policies. Prepare and administer the Library budget. Supervise and evaluateall full and part-time library faculty and staff. Establish, analyze, and evaluate strategic and long-range plans for the library and the professional staff. Supervise and maintain currency of library automation systems. Provide for the security of library materials and the proper use of library facilities and equipment. Supervise the allocationand expenditure of funds for print and non-print materials. Insure the quality and balance of the collection according to accepted principles of collection development and management. Prepare proposals and applications for externally funded grants. Review and report annually on the activities of the Library. Participate on appropriate college committees. Develop and maintain the Repository of OCC Institutional History. Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director of e-Learning. Financial Accountability: Prepare and supervise all budgets for the Library. Approve all expenditures for the Library. PublicRelations/Communications: Represent the Library and serve as the liaison to the College administration, faculty, staff and students and to the community. Represent the College on relevant regional, state and local committees. Maintain liaison with Directors of public libraries in Ocean County. Education/Training-Advising/Counseling: Orient new library staff to the services of the library. Provide training as needed. Conduct regular library services staff meetings. Technical: Be current in knowledge of and changes in library technologies. Maintain appropriate competency in contemporary computer technology. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or an equivalent degree. A minimum of three years progressively responsible administrative experience in academic libraries including planning, developing, and monitoring budgets, managing personnel, and implementing technology. Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment. Experience with evaluating and implementing emerging library technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A verifiable record of advocacy for a teaching-learning library environment. Commitment to professional and staff development. Strong working knowledge of computer software including MS Word & Excel. DESIRED: Preferred: Experience in grant proposal writing and/or administration. Previous experience in writing policies for a Library or related environment.
