One of my greatest accomplishments has been teaching others how to use technology by demonstrating the benefits and value of technology via my work at NYU, volunteerism in professional associations, and through publication. As a member of LITA I have served the organization in many ways. These activities have given me opportunities to help shape the future of LITA. One of my most rewarding experiences was chairing the Bylaws and Organization Committee. During my tenure we reworked the LITA manual and streamlined many processes for the organization, including; developing a rotating committee review process and creating an online interest group renewal procedure. As chair I also served as Parliamentarian to the Board of Directors. This experience allowed me to participate in board discussions and learn more about how LITA works.

STATEMENT: LITA can play a pivotal role in ALA by assuming a leadership role in emerging technologies and the applications of these technologies in libraries. Other ALA sections are looking to us for expertise in integrating technology into libraries and enhancing the association’s membership experience. As a member of the Board I would work to achieve this goal. Additionally, libraries of all types are looking to LITA to help develop librarians who are knowledgeable about technology and comfortable in a changing environment. Training future librarians who are technologically savvy is increasingly important as our profession changes. I look forward to working with the Board to develop opportunities for new and seasoned librarians to learn about new technologies, publish their research, and train to become technology leaders. I have grown with LITA and I hope to contribute to other members’ professional growth by creating new opportunities for professional development within the association.
