The purpose of the section shall be to study and evaluate the application of new technology in services, and the management thereof, for the improvement of library services and systems. Within this context, the section shall foster research, develop and promote continuing education opportunities, disseminate information, and provide a forum for the discussion of related management issues pertinent to all types of libraries.
From the SASS Chair:
Hello!
Welcome to the LLAMA Systems and Services Section website. Our section is devoted to leadership and management issues as they relate to systems and services in all types of libraries. We have four very active committees: Management Practices, Circulation and Access Services, Technical Services and Systems, and Conference Programs. We have one very active Discussion Group—Circulation/Access Services.
Our Technical Systems and Services Committee recently published a new monograph, New Supervisors in Technical Services: A Management Guide Using Checklists, which represents the collective work of many members of the Committee over several years. At each Annual Conference, our committees sponsor interesting, timely, thought-provoking programs that have hundreds of attendees in the audiences and the evaluations of those programs always validate our work.
SASS is an active section and we welcome all who are interested to join us. Come to our Committee meetings! Get involved! Work with fantastic colleagues! Please contact the Chair of any Committee that is of interest to you for additional information. And, I would like to hear from anyone interested in SASS as well!
