Interested in the direction of library advocacy at ALA during the upcoming year? American Library Association (ALA) President-elect Jim Retting is seeking member input to help plan his advocacy initiative at ALA’s 2008 Annual Conference in Anaheim.
The session, entitled “Advocating for All Libraries: Saving the Library Ecosystem” will feature breakout sessions focusing on identifying best practices, commonalities and obstacles in order to create new and lasting coalitions among library types. The goal is to create elements of a plan for the advocacy initiative to take place during Rettig’s presidential year.
In addition to President-elect Rettig, 2004-2005 ALA Past-President Carol Brey-Casiano, Chair of the newly-formed Advocacy Committee and Marci Merola, Director of the ALA Office for Library Advocacy. Attendance is open to all registered attendees of ALA’s 2008 Annual Conference.
The program is sponsored by the Office for Library Advocacy. To learn more, please visit www.jimrettig.org, or www.ala.org/issues&advocacy.
