Our Scholarship Recipients
To date, the American Library Association has awarded over 560 Spectrum Scholarships! Spectrum Scholars have been in attendance at over 50 library schools. They reside, study and work all across North America in a wide array of library positions in every type of library, ranging from the manager of special projects, rare books and special collections for the Princeton University Library to a librarian in a Bureau of Indian Affairs school on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. Make the Spectrum Connection
If your organization is committed to fostering diversity and recruitment, the Spectrum Initiative provides a unique opportunity to connect with an ever-growing pool of exceptionally trained and professionally networked individuals from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and library interests. To reach the Scholars, please submit a copy of your announcement, invitation or request to the ALA Office for Diversity by sending email to diversity@ala.org. Please note that contact with the scholars will be via an electronic list serv message posted on your behalf by the Office for Diversity, ALA will not release individual contact information for the scholars and the list serv is maintained by and restricted to Spectrum Scholars. Advertise your job openings to the Spectrum Scholars and support ALA's and your own recruitment for diversity efforts.

Consider Spectrum Scholars as speakers and panelists for your conferences--Scholars are located throughout North America and can speak to a number of issues related to their unique and individual backgrounds, advocacies, library specialties, and professional interests, in addition to being excellent representatives for educating conference participants on the ALA Spectrum Scholarship Program.

Develop internships, residencies, conference scholarships, travel grants, and general membership opportunities for Spectrum Scholars--it's a wonderful way to mentor this group of library leaders while strengthening your own organization.
