ASCLA Seeks Editor for Membership Journal Interface
The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) seeks an editor for ASCLA’s quarterly membership journal, Interface. Interface serves as the primary source of information and communication between ASCLA and the library and user community and reaches ASCLA’s 1,000 members each quarter. Guided by ASCLA editorial policy, the editor is responsible for the content, format and timely publication of Interface. Compensation of up to $1,000 annually will be provided to the Interface editor to cover travel to ALA annual and midwinter conferences. More information is here.
LNCC Survey Results Are AvailableASCLA is pleased to announce that it will house the Library Networks, Cooperatives and Consortia (LNCC) final report data. The data was collected from more thanover 200 participating library networks, cooperatives and consortia. The data was collected through a project administered by the ALA Office for Research and Statistics (ORS) and funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The LNCC survey results provide a wide range of data about how library networks and cooperatives operate and the many ways in which these collaborative organizations help to advance learning communities. ASCLA will encourage participants from the base study to regularly update directory information and the data derived from the surveys to keep the data as up-to-date as possible. A tutorial and podcast are available to help users search, view and export records from the survey database. Go to the survey page.
Additions to Professional ToolsInformation about social networking tools and Second Life have been added to the Professional Tools section of the ASCLA Web site. Look for links in the left-hand menu once you arrive on the PT page. Also, the way to handle electronic mailing lists has been changed (for the better) and instructions have been revised, so please check that page, too, under Professional Tools. This was noted by Donavan's blog, but to ensure everyone sees them, it's being announced here as well. Finally, Donavan took part in a video produced by ALA Membership as part of "ALA in Focus."
