NOTABLE CHILDREN'S RECORDINGS Terms and Criteria
CRITERIA
Recordings are evaluated on the following criteria:
- respecting young people's intelligence and imagination;
- exhibiting venturesome creativity;
- in exemplary ways reflecting and encouraging the natural interest of children and young adolescents.
The committee considers aesthetic and technical aspects--the effective use of voices, music, sound effects, and language--creating a unified whole. Adapted materials should remain true to, expand, or complement the original work, while meeting the criteria for excellence.
For consideration, please send a preview copy and a completed Information Verification Form for each recording to the chair of the Children's Notable Recordings Selection Committee and to the ALSC Office. (You have the option of sending a copy of the work to each committee member, but it is not required.) Click here for the current committee roster.
