About the cover

The cover image of a wokas plant is a plate from Wokas: A primitive food of the Klamath Indians (Coville, Frederick V., 1902), one of more than 1,000 items in the Southern Oregon Digital Archives (SODA). The wokus, a waterlily that grows in Klamath Lake and Klamath Marsh, is still harvested and an important food for the Klamath people. SODA provides a wealth of research materials on regional ecology and indigenous peoples of southwestern Oregon and northwestern California. Read more about the collections in News from the Field.
